The gold rate in Pakistan was unchanged today, with 24K gold holding at Rs429,500 per tola. The change from Tuesday's rate of Rs429,500 was Rs0, or 0.00%, leaving the local rate at its lowest level in 30 trading days for a second session.
What Moved Gold
International gold was little changed on Wednesday after three losing sessions, trading near its lowest level of the week. Market commentary from Mitrade said expectations of a further Federal Reserve rate rise in December, built on hot US consumer and producer price data for September, continued to weigh on gold, which pays no interest. The Fed's next policy meeting is about a week away.
Some factors that would normally help gold offered little support. Oil prices eased from recent highs after reports of diplomatic talks to reduce tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, and US Treasury yields slipped. Weaker-than-expected US housing starts data for September also did little to change the view that the Fed is in no hurry to cut rates. With the international price flat, the local rate held steady.
